For the past few years Take 27 Ltd, and previous to that, one of its directors and artists, Julian Baum, has been developing an extensive project to visualise Roman Chester, sometimes via commissioned collaborations with Chester Archaeology, but more often as a result of a company signature project to depict one of the great legionary fortresses of the Roman Empire. The project strives to understand not only the buildings, but also the fortress in its environment, and ultimately the people. This work will be available to view on our special Roman Chester website, coming in the summer of 2007, and will expand and evolve alongside new work and new interpretations of the fortress. Bookmark this page and check around mid-July for announcements. Take 27 has developed major visual studies of the Elliptical Building and more recently of the amphitheatre. Ongoing research and development revolves around many aspects of the fortress, including the enormous headquarters building (principia) with its strong-room. As well as publications, Take 27 has and is providing cgi (computer generated imagery) for TV history shows, notably for The History Channel's 'Britain's Lost Mega-Fortress' to be shown on 20th June 2007, and Granada TV's 'Lost Treasures', alongside our work for museums and Julian Baum and Claire Duval Tel. 01244 345225 or email
